About

Sawdust, patience, and a stubborn love of wood.

Beehag Built is a small workshop building furniture and finish carpentry for homes, architects, and the occasional very patient business.

Our story

A workshop on Maple Lane.

Beehag began in 2008 in a leaky garage with one tablesaw, a borrowed jointer, and an order for a single walnut bookshelf. Sixteen years later we’ve built more than four hundred pieces — kitchens, libraries, dining tables, the odd boat seat — out of a sunny shop on Maple Lane.

We stayed small on purpose. Every project is touched by the same four people, from the first sketch to the final wax. That means slower turnaround than a factory, but also: real joinery, hand-rubbed finishes, and someone who actually answers the phone.

How we work

Four steps, no surprises.

  1. 01

    Conversation

We meet, look at the space, and talk about how you actually live. No charge, no pressure.

  2. 02

    Design & Quote

You get scaled drawings, real wood samples, and a clear, itemized estimate within a week.

  3. 03

    Build

Most pieces are milled, joined, and finished in our shop over four to ten weeks, depending on scope.

  4. 04

    Install & Care

We deliver, install, and walk you through care. Then we follow up after a season — wood moves, and so do we.

The team

The hands behind the work.

Rowan Marek

Founder & Lead Joiner

Started the shop with a single bookshelf order. Still draws every project by hand before it touches a screen.

Elena Hadid

Cabinetmaker

Specialist in inset cabinetry and casework. Will quietly redo a drawer rather than ship it crooked.

Jamie Torres

Finisher

Mixes our oils and waxes from scratch and is the reason every Beehag piece feels the way it does.

Sam Kovač

Install & Site Lead

Runs every install. Famous for arriving with extra shims, painter’s tape, and decent coffee.

What we believe

Quietly opinionated about wood.

  • Real joinery. Mortise and tenon, dovetails, and dadoes — not staples and hope.
  • Honest materials. Solid hardwoods and Baltic birch ply. We tell you what’s underneath the finish.
  • Local timber. Whenever possible we mill from regional sources and reclaimed beams.
  • Clear quotes. Itemized estimates, fixed prices, no soft “design fee” surprises.
